Chinese Crispy Chicken with Brothy Rice

This Chinese Crispy Chicken with Brothy Rice combines juicy chicken mince, fragrant spices, and the perfect balance of sweet and savoury notes from tamari, honey, and sesame oil. And what better way to boost a bed of rice than with the flavour and nutritional benefits of broth for some immunity and gut loving. Garnished with fresh coriander and spring onions, this dish is as comforting as it is crispy!

  • 1 lb chicken mince
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • 3 tbsp grated ginger
  • 1 tsp Chinese five spice
  • 1 tsp apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 2 tbsp tamari
  • 2 tbsp Chicken Bone Broth Concentrate Natural Chicken
  • 1 bunch coriander, leaves 
  • 3 Spring onions, finely sliced
  • 2 cups jasmine rice
  1. Cook rice to packet instructions. 
  2. In a pan, add olive oil and chicken mince. Cook until starting to brown then add garlic and spring onion and ½ of the ginger. Cook for another couple of minutes until the chicken is nicely browned and the garlic is softened.
  3. Add to the pan, Chinese five spice, apple cider vinegar, sesame oil, honey and tamari, cook for a couple of minutes until the sauce becomes sticky. Remove to a tray, keep warm.
  4. To the pan, add 33 oz of hot water, remaining ginger and 2 tbsp chicken broth, stir until broth begins to simmer.
  5. Serve rice into bowls, pour over broth, then add chicken mince,  then garnish with coriander.
